Crystalens HD and Crystalens AO

Serving Los Angeles, California and Surrounding Communities

Your vision typically remains stable until you reach your mid-to-late 40s. At this time, the natural crystalline lenses of your eyes will begin to harden and become inflexible. Soon after, your eyes may develop cataracts.

Cataracts are a progressive condition where your eye’s lens becomes cloudy and eventually opaque, resulting from the buildup of dead tissue cells retained within the capsule of the lens. If cataracts are severe enough, they can ultimately lead to blindness.

Thankfully, modern advancements in ophthalmology have made Refractive Lens Exchange an effective treatment method for cataracts. During this procedure, your cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced with a new artificial lens. Crystalens HD is an advanced option for artificial lens replacement. AO stands for Aspheric Optics.

Are You a Candidate for Crystalens HD or AO?

If you experience any of the following symptoms, you may be a candidate for Refractive Lens Exchange with Crystalens HD:

  • Gradual deterioration of vision over time
  • Objects appearing dull, hazy, blurred or distorted
  • Reduced night vision
  • Glares may appear in bright light or sunshine
  • Halos around lights, especially at night
  • White, blue, and purple objects may seem gray
  • Loss of the ability to focus on near objects

Crystalens is the first intraocular lens (IOL) designed for cataracts, while also providing a full range of vision that closely mimics the action of your eye’s natural lens. Standard (single vision) lens implants do not have the ability to provide a full range of vision. Most people who have single vision lens implants must continue to wear glasses for middle and near vision. Crystalens provides you the ability to focus on objects at varying distances by using your eye’s natural muscles.

Cataracts usually develop in both eyes. If only one eye has a cataract, you will only require one lens implant. An hour before your procedure, you arrive at one of our offices in California, where we apply topical drops in your eye, which anesthetizes your eye and dilates your pupil. You may also be administered oral sedatives.

The actual eye surgery takes less than a half hour. Dr. Khanna will stabilize your eye with a device designed to keep your eyelids open. Your eye surgeon will then remove your natural lens through phacoemulsification (dissolved through sound waves), and insert your Crystalens.

“My girlfriend received STELLAR treatment from you, and she went from glasses to seeing better than me! No joke!”– Shawna (Singer / Songwriter)

There is no risk of cataracts redeveloping in your eyes once your cataracts are removed and your Crystalens has been placed. Crystalens HD is a one-time procedure with lifetime results.
