Will I Have Perfect Vision After LASIK?

The quality of your vision after LASIK will depend on how severe your refractive error was before surgery. Many of our patients are able to achieve 20/20 vision or better (such as 20/15), but people with a high degree of refractive error (i.e. a high prescription) may still need to use glasses or contact lenses in select situations. However, the vast majority of LASIK patients are able to enjoy 95% of their daily activities without glasses or contact lenses, and many patients experience 100% freedom from corrective eyewear.

After LASIK:

  • 95% of patients have 20/40 vision or better
  • 85% of patients have 20/20 vision or better

Keep in mind that 20/20 does not necessarily indicate “perfect” vision. Some people have excellent visual clarity when reading an eye chart, but have other frustrating problems, such as glare, halos around lights, filmy vision, or dry eye syndrome – all of which can impact the quality of their vision. Our advanced Custom LASIK technology maps every unique irregularity and imperfection in your eyes in order to ensure your LASIK correction is as comprehensive as possible.

Whether or not you achieve the magic number of 20/20, you can rest assured that you will have outstanding vision and life-changing freedom from your dependence on eyewear. During your free LASIK screening, Dr. Khanna will let you know what results to expect from LASIK based on your evaluation.
